The vocalist, known for her distinctive voice and enduring career, passed away in a Portuguese hospital after complications from emergency surgery.

Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler has died at the age of 75. Her family and representatives announced that she passed away on July 8, 2026, in a hospital in Portugal, following a period of illness for which she had been receiving treatment.

The singer had been hospitalised in May for emergency intestinal surgery near her residence in Faro, Portugal. Following the procedure, Tyler was placed in an induced coma to assist with her recovery. While she awoke in mid-June, statements from her team indicated she remained in intensive care until her passing.

Despite her recent health issues, Tyler had maintained an active recording and touring schedule. At the time of her death, she had a series of European tour dates planned throughout 2026 and into 2027, which had been subsequently affected by her hospitalisation.

Her recent releases included a July 2025 collaboration with the electronic music producer David Guetta titled "Together," which sampled her highly recognisable track "Total Eclipse of the Heart." Her final studio album, "The Best Is Yet to Come," was released in February 2021, followed by a live album recorded in Berlin and released in April 2024.

Tributes from the music industry and public figures have begun to emerge following the announcement. Tyler leaves behind a decades-long legacy as a recording artist who continued to perform and release new material through her final years.
