Paul Pelosi faces potential misdemeanor charge after California hit-and-run
The husband of former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi struck a parked vehicle in Napa County and left the scene, according to local authorities.

Businessman Paul Pelosi, husband of former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is facing a potential misdemeanor charge following a hit-and-run incident in Napa County, California. According to the Napa County Sheriff's Office, the 86-year-old was driving a brown convertible in Yountville on July 3 when he struck a legally parked, unoccupied vehicle, causing significant damage.
Witnesses reported that Pelosi briefly stopped before driving away from the scene. Sheriff's deputies located him approximately a quarter of a mile down the road, where his vehicle had become disabled. According to law enforcement, Pelosi acknowledged hitting something but stated he was unsure of what it was, prompting him to continue driving.
Authorities confirmed that a preliminary test showed no alcohol in his system. Because there were no injuries, the incident falls under California's vehicle code for misdemeanor hit-and-run collisions involving property damage. The Sheriff’s Office has recommended a charge for fleeing the scene of an accident to the Napa County District Attorney’s Office and referred Pelosi to the Department of Motor Vehicles for a driving capability evaluation.
A spokesperson for the Pelosi family confirmed that Paul Pelosi has personally apologized to the owner of the damaged vehicle and intends to cover the repair costs. Nancy Pelosi's office stated she would not comment further on the private matter.
